Acne Vulgaris Treatment

Acne Vulgaris

Acne Vulgaris is a common skin disorder which mainly affects adolescents, though it may be present at any age. It usually occurs on the face but can also manifest on the back, chest and arms. Acne or pimples, by no means are dangerous, but can leave behind pigmentation or acne scars which can be challenging to treat.

Understanding Acne:

There are small sebaceous glands just under the skin surface, alongside a hair follicle. These glands produce sebum that keeps the skin supple and smooth. During the teenage years due to the hormonal changes of puberty there is stimulation of these sebaceous glands. It is due to this increase in sebum production as well as the clogging of the pores that acne occurs.

Acne treatment is varied and highly specific, according to the reasons for its occurence and on the basis of the severity and grade of acne. The aim of management of acne is to decrease the number of new lesions as well as to treat the pre-existent ones. Various treatment modalities available are:

  • Topical modalities like benzoyl peroxide, retinoids etc.
  • Oral medications like antibiotics, another medication etc.

Apart from this, maintaining a good skin care routine, a well balanced diet, exercise and adequate rest helps improve your skin. Talk to our experts at Zolie and get a thorough treatment and lifestyle regime to treat your skin related issues.

In addition to the above the patient may also require:

  • Chemical Peels like Acne buster peel:

Sometimes, for early benefit and to target the ugly spots and marks, chemical peeling might have to consider as a supportive treatment. Our salicyclic acid peel which is a light superficial peeling agent, oil reducer and pore cleanser can work wonders on an acne prone skin.

  • Chemical Peels for Back Acne or Backne Clarify:

Acne on the back which is most of the times ignored in the early stage might lead to ugly and deep spots which take a long time to fade. We purify, deeply cleanse and try to heal this otherwise hard to reach area so that the spots and scars reduce to great extent.

  • Laser resurfacing

for Acne scars by Fractional ablative Co2 or non ablative laser can result in great improvement in post acne scars and improving the skin texture as well.
